Seriously. WHAT THE FLYING FUCK WORLD.

"File-sharers, beware: By July 12, major US Internet service providers (ISPs) will voluntarily begin serving as copyright police for the entertainment industry, according to Cary Sherman, chief executive of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The so-called “six-strikes” plan is said to be one of the most effective anti-piracy efforts ever established in the US."

The article goes on to give details. After six notices, internet providers will decide to throttle a person's internet speed, or cut it off altogether. I don't know if they will crack down on torrents only, or if it is up to the internet provider. I get the sense it is up to the internet provider. So some people could get away with downloading non torrents, while others might get their internet service cut off. I urge you to click it and read, as we all know people who download.

No more downloading eps of your favorite shows for vidding, gifs, or fanfiction art. No more downloading screencaps possibly. I'm so sorry my friends. I don't even know if BT Guard will work to protect you, but I would google it if I were you. It is a professional service that supposedly can protect you from the invasive eyes of your internet provider.

Just, my friends, please make each other aware. Please be aware of the date JULY 12TH. Mark your calendar and double check with your internet provider by then. If you start receiving notices of downloaded activity, this is why. And your internet service could be throttled or cut off.

Fox news confirms this:
http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2012/03/17/us-isps-become-copyright-cops-starting-july-12/

Youtube video explaining this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H5OG0R-yS-c

ETA: Please take a moment and sign the petition for RIAA and the Obama Administration: Stop ISPs from launching a massive copyright spying scheme this July 12th

I. What. This is ridiculous! The bulk of the shows I watch don't even make it to Australian TV Networks! I can't afford to buy them all on DVD (not when they're $40 a season!) D:

I forgot to tell you guys about SPACE TOUR! But, um...I don’t really have much to tell you that the others haven’t. Haha. I went to the 5pm show in New York, and it was pretty awesome (except for the pushing. probably the worst I’ve ever been in, and I’ve been pressed up against barricades at Paramore concerts in 95 degree weather.). Everyone was fantastic and even more attractive in person! I was three feet away from Julia Albain when she came outside, but once she started getting recognized she went back inside. So close to meeting her! Yet so far! Overall though, great show. I was pretty damn close because I was one of the first in line (we got there at 11), I think the Joey Richter picture demonstrates how far I was the best. Unfortunately my new camera didn't like to focus, so I don't have many pics.

I saw his opening night of How to Succeed! It was amazing! Truly, truly amazing. I really wasn’t expecting amazing because Darren only had a whole two weeks of rehearsal, and I knew what Brotherhood of Men was supposed to look like. That is a complicated routine, but he did it well. It was just so good and completely surpassed my expectations. It was amazing to see him at his first curtain call. You could tell that he was feeling amazed too because he just accomplished his dream. That look of gratitude.

I didn’t get to meet him at the stage door, though I did see him from afar. That was cool. It was nice to be able to hear him thank us all for being there.

Oh, and Charlene Kaye was less than ten feet away from me when she was standing in line to get it. That was pretty rad as well.

I did have a couple problems with behavior. People walked out after Brotherhood of Man. What the actual fuck? There are still actors on stage acting. IT WAS NOT OVER. Yet at least 30 people in the mezzanine alone left. They were leaving to get to the stage door. That is the RUDEST thing I have ever seen. If you love Darren, you wait until the end and give him a standing ovation. Don’t be disrespectful because you want an autograph.

He really makes me question my dreams far more than I’d like. I apparently came very, very close to being cast in my university’s play. I had to interview him for the paper today (journalism, the dream I’m actively going after), and he said that he had wanted to talk to me anyway. He told me how freaking good I am. Ugh, this happens every time I talk to him. He always makes me want to be an actress. Which would be great if acting was a stable job with a steady income that didn’t require me to look like a fucking model.

Not even basically, he flat out said that I'm good and I understand a lot more than other actors about how to read lines and I have a really good intuition. He said he didn't want to push me into an acting minor, but he really thought that I was good and that I should definitely try again next year. And it's just like UGH! How the fuck am I supposed to know what to do with my life? I mean I'm 19 years old! Why do you make kids pick one thing! I can barely decide on my outfit for the day but apparently I'm supposed to know what I want to do with my whole entire life! I'm a writer. I love writing. I'm not questioning that. But what about acting? I mean, I dreamed of that long before I could write, before I even knew what it meant.

Storytelling, that's what I love to do. To entertain people. Make people feel something. That's what I want to do with my life. It's just a matter of how....

Also, I kinda wish I had the desire to do something that actually made a lot of money. Too bad the math/science side of my brain doesn't function.

I come from the Supernatural fandom, and when the boys there got in a magazine, it was a big freaking deal. I had to keep up with all of them to put pictures up on my wall. But Darren is kinda always in magazines. It's relatively easy to get pictures of him for my walls. Like I have enough of him for my dorm and my room at home. This is awkward. I'm not used to being in a mainstream fandom, at least not for my main fandom (you've always got the one that you're more involved with than the rest you know?).

It's weird having new pictures and interviews with him up every week. I mean, I used to have to wait months for new anything with SPN and even back with Harry Potter. And The Vampire Diaries was a lot better than SPN with publicity, but it still wasn't nearly the level of Glee.

It's just weird to me, not having to explain what the show is or who Darren is to people. Everyone knows and likes him too. Like all of my friends are in love with Darren. Which, on the one hand, awesome! On the other hand, there are people who don't get fandom and don't know how this works. Like there was a manip on tumblr a little while ago and people were flipping out over how offensive it was. And i'm all like "you mean there aren't 5,000 other manips just like this? people make dirty manips. it happens. click the little 'x' in the corner to close the window and move on." It's interesting.

Just an observation.

It's a good thing I'm only an hour from NYC.

I'm honestly not sure how excited I am for this. I've seen How to Succeed before and I just can't picture Darren Criss as the lead. Then again, I pictured Daniel Radcliffe as J Finch even less, so what do I know? Hopefully I'll be pleasantly surprised. I'm not going for the super expensive seats though. I think my one friend would like me too, but that's just not an option. I know it's a relatively large theater, but we're just gonna have to suck it up. We were pretty close at his show in June. We can deal with being further away for this.

Sooooo, today was just chock full of awesome. Let's start at the beginning, shall we? I got up early and hopped on a train to NYC with 3 of my friends. First we went to Harry Potter: The Exhibition. That was interesting. It was cool to see all the props. Also, I got sorted. In the beginning of the tour they let three people from the group volunteer to be sorted. I'm a Gryffindor (Ok, so they asked everyone their favorite house and they magically got that one, but whatever I'm still brave and loyal and I look good in red). No pictures though, which really sucked. Seriously, why does it matter if I take a picture next to godric gryffindor's sword?

After HP Exhibit we went to Carmine's for lunch, which was a place famous enough for me to have heard of before. Really great Italian food. We took the leftovers and went to stand inline at Irving Plaza. We got there around 3 in the afternoon for doors that opened at 7. It was all general admission, so you had to get there early to be up close (Darren, babe, play some venues with seats). But we met some cool people in line (three girls: one black brunette who made an awesome DC shirt with a silhouette of his face, a tall blue eyed blonde who talked about gilmore girls and 7th heaven with me, and a quiet girl with light brown hair in a black shirt. Let me know if you see this! I should've asked for your names or tumblrs cause you were all awesome!) As soon as we got in there we ran to the merch table to get the limited edition posters. they didn't have rubber bands or anything, so we just had to roll them up ourselves and hold them, so they're a little worn in now, but nothing too bad. The girl at the merch table was telling me how she felt like a proud mama, which I totally understand, but I was like "I need to get in there to get a good spot!" After buying the poster (and t-shirt and EP) we finally got in the actual space for the show and it was pretty cool.

John West and Theo Katzman (sp?) opened for Darren. They were both really good. I liked them.

Then Darren came on. I'll try and recap what I remember. He told people about what they should expect. Like, he will forget the lyrics, sweat a lot, and maybe break a string? i can't quite remember (also, it's 3:30 am). It was really cute. He sang tons of songs. Like, he played for a full hour, if not a little more. When 'Not Alone' came on we blew bubbles that his street team had given us. He didn't actually acknowledge the bubbles, though, which disappointed me a little bit. But not much could really keep me down. He sang jealousy, which is just so good live. When his voice goes into the falsetto, just-ovaries exploding, man. I can't even explain.

The Warblers were brought out for a few songs, and that was cool because it wasn't just Warblers songs but also some of Darren's songs. They did Sami with him and it was really good. Later on he did 'Back to Hogwarts' and right before Draco's part he brings out freaking Lauren Lopez! Like holy shit! Okay, it was suspected that she would sing with him because we all knew she was in NYC. The unexpected one was Naya Rivera! That was like 'holy shit OMG r u for realz i'm about to die!' Really didn't even think about her coming up. But she, like everyone else, was amazing.

We wanted to wait by the stage door for Darren to come out, and we did, for over an hour. Then we decided that he either left already or was waiting for more people to clear out so he wouldn't be mobbed. So I didn't meet Darren Criss. Oh well. I was still within about 20 feet of him and his sexy, sweaty self, so I'm pretty okay. Actually, I'm fantastic because today was just totally awesome. Seriously, really great day. So great that I don't even care that my entire body is aching right now. lol. Alright, guess it's time for some sleep.

ETA: Also, dumbass me didn't charge my camera's battery. :( So no pic of Dar on my camera. My friends have plenty, though, so maybe I'll throw some of those on here when they put theirs up on facebook.

ETA2: So I did take pictures with my friend's camera while she took videos (unfortunately she says the audio came out badly even though it's an hd camera.) So these are the best of the pictures I got. Wasn't a fantastic camera, but I got a couple of decent pictures.
Pictures under cut!Collapse )

So, first of all, appropriate icon for passover, right? But more importantly I just finished the new Glee episode. A Night of Neglect. Lackluster.

First of all, let's discuss neglected artists. Mercedes explained Aretha, so okay, whatever. Lykke Li? Yes, congrats Tina, you followed the assignment well. Jack Johnson? Is he neglected? Is there something I'm unaware of? Okay, maybe he's not the most popular guy. So then there's Holly Holiday covering FREAKING ADELE! First of all, Gwyneth just isn't amazing enough to really do it justice. Second, Adele is the least neglected person ever right now. I can't find a ticket for her tour anywhere right now because every show near me is sold out (in NYC and Philly) and her album went platinum. So seriously? We're going to call her neglected?

In storyline related news (oh yeah, glee sometimes has those too) NOTHING. We actually had an episode not all about a cool song or an awesome guest star and nothing happened. Ok, Will/Holly/Emma stuff happened but they don't really matter that much to me. You know who matters? DARREN MOTHER FUCKIN CRISS! I'm a little in love with that man. Y'know, he's kinda mega foxy super awesome hot, soooooo I think he needs more screen time. Especially following the Blaine/Kurt kiss. I feel like they wanted to focus on the smaller characters like Tina and Mercedes but kinda just ended up wasting time. It felt more like a filler than anything.

In other news, I'm writing all 8 pages of a paper in one day. fuck my life.

Hey guys, so one of a friend of mine on LJ, needtakehave , is in a bad financial situation right now. She and her mother are going to lose their home, so she is selling her DVD collection to try and get together money for a new place. She's taking offers on the DVDs she has listed here:http://needtakehave.livejournal.com/41505.html From what i've seen, the deals look pretty good, and she's got a massive collection. Give it a look over and see if there's anything you'd like to put an offer on. Unfortunately, it looks like she can only ship to the US because of the cost of shipping though. She can ship internationally! The package just has to be under 4 pounds.

Again, http://needtakehave.livejournal.com/41505.html please help her out if you can. Cheap DVDs!

Happy new year friends! I'm back at school for spring semester, and, well...I guess it's okay. I've definitely acclimated to college life so nothing is really all that exciting anymore. Actually, this semester is kind of boring. Especially in terms of my classes. All boring General Education courses that everyone has to take. I'm in an Information Technology course where I learned what a URL was the other day. seriously. And in my science class, we're counting a hypothesis and prediction has two separate steps in the scientific method. How does that make sense?

I took Acting II as an elective since I took Acting II to fulfill my aesthetic requirement last semester. I really don't need the course, but I wanted something to look forward to. Which I totally would if I didn't get the most awkward scene ever with the creepiest boy ever. Why would my professor hand me a scene where I'm a seductress. I'm the quite little freshman. NOTHING ABOUT ME SCREAMS SEDUCTRESS!!! Anyway, I went to the professor after class and got out of kissing the guy. Just to clarify, not only did he kinda facebook stalk me, he also is known for hitting on freshman girls (he's a senior). He's a creeper, but we rehearsed today and he was equally uncomfortable, so that was good...kinda. IDK I feel like this is karma saying "Oh, already taking your electives? You should be in math class. You're gonna regret not taking math." Y'know, if karma were vocal and all.

In other news, this snow needs to stop. I mean, I am all for getting class canceled tomorrow, but I'd also like to be able to go home for my dad's birthday this weekend. I miss winter break. Lazy days of just writing. Seriously, I wrote a crap load of fic. I finished a SPN fic that I hadn't updated in two years. A wrote a bundle of one-shots for a Vampire Diaries comment fic a thon. Seriously, it was AWESOME. I'm trying to make it a priority to do my homework earlier so that I can write more when inspiration hits.

Speaking of the vampire diaries, IT COMES BACK TOMORROW! Which, believe me, if i have class tomorrow, it will be the only thing that gets me through my day. Thursdays are the worst, school wise.

Also, my laptop has a virus, AGAIN. I cna't decide if it just came back again or I never got rid of it in the first place. Either way, NOT OKAY! I NEED my laptop! Hanging out in the computer lounge all by myself is NOT fun. :(

Question for all of you: Did I ever write you a fanfic? It would've been for Supernatural and involved gypsies in december/january of about 2008, maybe even 2007? It was a christmas-y fic for someone who I believe asked for a christmas-y fic.

Obviously you can see why I don't remember who I wrote it for. The reason I'm looking for it is because the computer it was on completely crashed last spring, and tonight I decided to update my fanfiction.net page with everything I've written for other sites. Also, I really dislike the idea that I wrote something and posted it and don't remember where.

Harry Potter is coming to an end. It's going to be a serious problem for me. I can honestly say that I don't think anything else has had such a profound effect on my life. I was in fourth grade when I first sat down in the theater to see a movie about a boy wizard, based on a book that had been sitting untouched on my shelf for three years. I came home from Sorcerer's Stone and picked up Chamber of Secrets. So began my journey with Hermione Granger.
Um...so rewatching the movies in anticipation for Deathly Hallows kinda made me think about my journey with Rowling's entire series and the kinda profound effect it has had on my life, so there's this if you'd like to read it. I really don't know what to call this, but it was sitting in my head so i had to write it.Collapse )

Soooooooo I am majoring in English. I intended to start minoring in journalism at some point to make my resume look really good for Entertainment Weekly. Ok, so as much as I enjoy writing about tv and stuff, all my assignments for newspaper are kinda becoming chores. And that was happening last year too, but I figured it was because I was at a school where i saw my articles on the locker room floor. That wasn't exactly motivational. Now I'm in university (really? i just said university? i'm reading too many british writers) and the newspaper actually matters, and I'm still not all that excited. This was technically the point of being an English major instead of a journalism major, actually. I thought there was a possibility that I could change my mind. But it's just kinda shocking that I think I have.

Publishing was always in the back of my mind. Lately I've been thinking about it a lot more, and it seems like something I'd enjoy. I mean editing other people's writing? I already do that for my friend's papers as it is (they take advantage of the fact that i'm an english major). And I love analyzing and picking apart literature the way we do in my classes. So that might be the path I go down instead. I was looking on a lot of major publisher's sites and they all appear to be short on entry level positions so i don't know what that says about the industry right now. But I did find a lot of jobs for cover designers (hey jessieflower you can get a job at almost any book publisher right now). I don't know. I mean, I'm 18. Switching career goals shouldn't stress me out this much. lol, it's not like I even have to change my major. I don't even know why this sudden realization is freaking me out. It was always kinda in the back of my mind.

In other news, Taylor Swift's new album, quite good. Now I should really do my sociology paper. (Oh! And I aced the two midterms that I've taken so far! GO ME!)

i'm going to COLLEGE tomorrow. i'm so nervous i could throw up. so let's talk about something else.

so i think the Vampire Diaries is my favorite show now. I mean, I've had a good five years with Supernatural. This past season just did nothing for me. We knew the storyline, we knew where it would end. It all felt rather obvious and a bit dragged out. The Vampire Diaries, on the other hand, has been keeping me on the edge of my seat this year. I've been thoroughly entertained and there's ROMANCE! I missed sexual tension between characters that is actually supposed to be there. It's just fun to watch, and i have absolutely no idea where it' s going. Not like i'm going to stop watching Sam and Dean or anything, but I might start streaming the next day instead of being home every week (plus this move to fridays just isn't good for me).

also, i can't wait for parenthood to come back. when lauren graham is on my screen every week, all is well in the world.

I thought I was unfriended. Turns out she just happens to have her journal set to one entry per page, so all i could see was the locked entry. but i can go back and click through other entries too....that's awkward. i'm happy that i didn't call her out by name or anything cause that would've been really embarrassing, though i still feel pretty stupid. anyway, i didn't actually mysteriously lose any LJ friends and that's nice.

in other news, i'm sick. i feel like shit and it sucks. and this medicine the doctor gave me? sooooo not helping.

in EMMY news, Friday Night Lights finally got the recognition it deserves! Connie Britton and Kyle Chandler have been absolutely amazing for 4 seasons and i hope they win it.

oh, and Day 2 of my meme started a month ago. As well as Days 3 through 5 because we all know this daily thing isn't gonna work out.
